摘要

Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of peroxisome proliferator - activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) agonists on blood glucose, insulin resistance and blood lipids in rats with type 2 diabetes. Methods Rat model was established by consuming high - sugar and high - fat diet and intrap-eritoneal injection of streptozotocin. The treatment groups were administered 50 mg/( kg?d), 100 mg/(kg·d), and 200 mg/(kg·d) of kaempferol for 10 weeks respectively. Pasting blood glucose and plasma insulin levels were detected by glucose oxidase method and radioimmunoassay, respectively. Plasma concentrations of total cholesterol, triglycerides, blood urinary nitrogen and creatinine were determined by enzymology. Results The fasting blood glucose, plasma insulin resistance and blood lipids were noticeably decreased in the treatment groups. Compared with the model group, the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion Kaempferol can effectively decrease fasting blood glucose and insulin resistance and improve the disorders of glucose and lipid metabolism.
