Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical application of selective arterial chemoembolization in patients with advanced gastric cardia cancer. Methods Twenty patients with advanced gastric cardia cancer received selective arterial chemoembolization and the clinical data were analyzed. Results The response rate and disease control rate were 65-0% and 95.0% respectively 2 months after operation in all 20 patients of this group. Fifteen patients had KPS score improved, 4 stabilized and 1 decreased. The improvement rate, together with the stability rate was 95.0% (19/ 20). Serum CEA and CA199 expression levels 1 or 2 months after operation were significantly lower, and the differences were statistically significantly (P<0. 05). All patients had symptoms of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and fever. Improvement was observed after treatment with no serious complications. Conclusion Selective arterial chemoembolization can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of advanced gastric cardia cancer patients, reduce their sufferings, improve their quality of life, and prolong their survival period. Thus it is worthy of clinical application.关键词
