Experimental study of two-way reinforced concrete slab subjected to fire in a whole structure

Abstract
The self designed furnace was used to study the fire performance of two-way concrete slab in a full-scale three-story steel-framed building. This paper introduces the design of the test building and furnace, test plan, measuring contents and method. The test observations, cracking and failure characteristics of the slab were described. The distribution of temperature along the depth of the slab, temperature variation of the steel reinforcement, vertical deflection and horizontal disp[acement were studied. It is shown that the distribution of temperature along the slab depth is nonlinear, and the temperature gradients are large. The restraint provided by the adjacent structural members has significant effect on the structural fire behavior of the heated two-way concrete slab in a whole structure. Main cracks occur on the top surface of the heated slab, and are located at approximately the 1/4 span near the interior edges of the slab ( the position where the top reinforcing bars are cut off). Because of the structural continuity and interaction between structural members, regular cracks also occur on the top of the adjacent unheated slabs. The largest vertical deflection of the slab occurs at the position a short distance away from the center of the slab to the interior edges due to the redistribution of moment induced by the formation and development of the main cracks. The test results indicate that the two-way concrete slab in a whole structure has good fire performance.关键词
