Abstract

Considering the cause of length errors of cables, the initial pre-stressed deviations of cable-strut ten- sile structures under pretension process are analyzed. The mathematically random distribution model of cable length error is discussed. A numeric strategy of calculating the cable length error effect is suggested. An illustrative example of a practical mast-cable hybrid system is employed to investigate the influence of different length error distributions on the initial structural pre-stress. Furthermore, the impacts on reduction of length error effects under two kinds of pretension schemes are compared. The results indicate that the reduction of pre-stress deviation de- pends on the reasonable tensioning scheme.
