Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the association of human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV type 16) infection and clinicopathological parameters in patients with oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC) and oral leukoplakia, Materials and. Method: 30 cases of OSCC and 5 cases of oral leukoplakia for HPV type 16 DNA were examined by nest-PCR. Result: No significant correlation was found between HPV type 16 infections and TNM staging. The positive rate of HPV type 16 DNA in young female OSCC patients was significandy higher than that in older female OSCC patients (P =0.024) > but no significant difference was found in the male patitents among age subgroups (p =0.649). Conclusion: These results suggest that the increased HPV type 16 infections in younger females may attribute to the OSCC tumorigenesis.关键词
