Cu/ZnO-Pd/WO3/ZrO2 catalyst for glycerol hydrogenolysis to 1,2-propanediol

Abstract
To improve the stability of Cu-based catalysts, the mixture of Cu/ZnO and Pd/W03/Zr02 for hydrogenolysis of glycerol producing 1,2-propanediol was prepared. The physic-chemical properties of the catalyst were characterized by hydrogen temperature-programmed reduction (H2-TPR) , temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia (NH,-TPD) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface areas. The mixture catalytic performance for hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,2-propanediol was investigated in a continuous flow fixed-bed reactor. Results showed that Pd/WO3/ZrO2 enhanced reducibility of Cu/ZnO. The activity and stability of the combined catalyst Cu/ZnO-Pd/WO3/ZrO2 was related to the acid density of WO3/ZrO2. The well-combined catalyst of Cu/ZnO and Pd/WO3/ZrO2 had the highest activity and stability.关键词
