Alternate Binary Offset Carrier Signal Acquisition Algorithm

Abstract
To coherently combine the data and pilot components of alternate binary offset carrier (AltBOC) signals, an improved side-band acquisition algorithm is presented. The joint data/pilot structure is fully exploited in order to improve the acquisition sensitivity of receivers. Component synthesizers and comparators are used to evaluate the relative sign between data and pilot channels by posterior estimation. By applying the coherent combining strategy to the correlator outputs of data and pilot channels, the squaring loss is reduced. The acquisition performance of the new algorithm is assessed through Monte Carlo simulations and compared with the traditional non-coherent combining strategy. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively increase the probability of detection of AltBOC signals and reduce the mean acquisition time for a fixed probability of false alarm.关键词
