摘要

Abstract

This paper deals systematically with the application of fractal theory in many aspects of sediment research, including the characteristics of sediment grains, the aggregation and the arrangement of grains, flocculation of cohesive fine sediment, as well as the river geometry form. The characteristics which occur in the practice of the application of the fractal theory to sediment research are to accelerate connection of different subjects to form a new research field and to supply new methods to traditional problems. Meanwhile, attention should be paid to some problems, such as unification and standardization of fractal calculation, making definite physial meaning of each fractal dimension and using it to solve some actual problems.
