Abstract
Three metafunctions of language are identified in Halliday＇s systemic-functional grammar. And thematic struc- ture, information structure, and cohesion work together to contribute to the texture of a text. On the basis of thematic structure, the themes of all the clauses in the 10 selected chairman＂ statement , which is one of the two main language blocks of annual reports are analyzed to demonstrate the application of thematic structure in this discourse type.关键词
