Abstract
The kinetics of the esterification reaction of acetic acid with methanol over a strong acidic cation exchange resin catalyst(23-59 g/L) was investigated in a stirred batch reactor in the temperature range of 323.15-348.15 K. The results showed that the methyl acetate synthesis was a second order reversible reaction. The chemical equilibrium constant K=20.09exp(l 603/7) for the synthesis was obtained; the forward and reverse reaction rate constants were A4=1.463 × 104exp(-53 160/ RT) and k=1.124 × 105exp(-63 740/RT), and the activation energy were Ea+t=53.16 kJ/moland Ea-=63.74 ld/mol, respectively. The relationship between temperature and the reaction rate was described by Arrhenius equation. With the rise of temperature, the reaction rate increased.关键词
