摘要

Abstract

Vegetation and precipitation are both the key factors which determine runoff and sediment amount, and nutrient losses. To examine the effects of vegetation cover on sediment erosion and solute transport on hill slopes by alfalfa, the water scouring method was used in a semi-arid region China. The results indicate that loss amounts of runoff, sediment and nutrient were 693.35, 362.51, 324.65, 266.64 L and 16.3, 5.9, 0.16, 0. 091 kg, and 5 852.07, 1 274.51, 397.29, 178.56 mg respectively in vegetation cover ratios of 0%, 33.5 %, 43.2 % and 68.8 %. The power function was used to fit the experimental data of the solute concen- tration in runoff, and fund that the power function might be used to fit the experimental data of the solute concentration in runoff. The mean roughness coefficient might be used to indicate soil erosion. The mean roughness coefficient turned larger because of vegetable cover, which reduced losses of soil and nutrients.
