Functional finishing of cotton fabric treated with nano-titanium dioxide and tussah fibroin

Abstract
Nano titanium dioxide was prepared according to sol-gel method and cotton fabric was finished with the mixed solution containing the prepared nano-Ti02 and tussah fibroin. Laser particle size analyzer was used to characterize the particle size distribution of nano-titanium dioxide sol and the tussah fibroin solution. Furthermore the UV resistance, wettability (contact angle), hanging style, whiteness and tearing strength of cotton fabric before and after treatment were tested. The results showed that the average diameter of the nano-titanium dioxide sol and the tussah fibroin solution were 13.31 nm and 77.90 nm, respectively. The cotton fabrics treated with the mixed solution had excellent UV resistance. The UPF value greatly increased and the softness, draping style and moisture absorption were improved. However, the tearing strength and whiteness of cotton fabrics decreased slightly.关键词
