Abstract
Objective To evaluate the in vitro antibacterial activity of mupirocin and other compounds against clinical isolated Staphylococcus aureus. Method A total of 1007 pathogenic isolates 23 tertiary hospitals from 2007 to 2010 in China were studied. The MICs were determined by the twofold agar dilution method . Results Mupirocin exhibited excellent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The values of MIC50 and MIC90 were 0. 25 , 0. 50 mg · L-1, respectively. Mupirocin resistance rates against Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin - resistance Staphylococcus aureus ( MRSA ) were 0. 6% and 0. 9% , which were the lowest among tested agents. Against triple antibiotic ointment or fusidic acid -resistance trains, mupirocin susceptible rates were about 80%. Mupirocin resistance rates against Staphylococcus aureus isolated from various specimen types were between 0-1.0%, secretion isolated strains' resistance was 0. Conclusion Mupirocin resistance rate against MRSA was lower than other tested topical agents. And show good antibacterial activity against MRSA and other resistance strains. There was no cross - resistance between mupirocin and clinically available antibiotics.关键词
