Effects of Antibacterial Peptide and Antibiotics on Growth Performance in Weaned Piglets

Abstract
In order to investigate the effect of antibacterial peptide and antibiotics on growth performance in weaned piglets, a feeding trial was conducted and 144 healthy Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire crossbred weaned piglets with an average weight of (7. 32±0. 45) kg in a 4X2 factorial design trial were randomly assigned to 8 groups (3 replicates per group and 6 piglets per replicate). Supplemental levels of antibacterial peptide protease were 0,1,3 and 5 g/kg, respectively, and supplemental levels of antibiotics protease were 0, 20 tng/kg enramycin and 20 mg/kg colistin, respectively. The experiment lasted for 28 d, including early period (1 to 14 d)and later period (15 to 28 d). The results showed that antibacterial peptide protease and antibiotics protease had significant effects on average daily gain (ADG) ,feed/gain (F/G) and diarrhea ratio during early period, later period and the whole period (P<0. 05). Supplementation with 3 g/kg antibacterial peptide protease with 20 mg/kg enramycin and 20 mg/kg colistin antibiotics protease had significantly& increasing effects on ADG and decreasing effects on F/G and diarrhea ratio (P<0. 05). In conclusion, antibacterial peptide and antibiotics protease could improve the growth performance of weaned piglets to some degree. And their interaction on growth performance was found.关键词
