Effects of Alfalfa Saponins on Ruminal Bacterial Fermentation in Goats

Abstract
This research was conducted to investigate the effect of addition of alfalfa saponins on rumen fermentation of growing goats in vitro culture. Four ruminally-fislulated Xuhuai goats were used in the experiment. Ruminal fluid was collected at 3 hours after morning feeding and fermented in vitro when the bacteria was isolated from it. The addition levels of alfalfa saponins were 0% (control group), 1%, 2% and 3% respectively. Each group has 3 replicates and anaerobic acculturated for 24 h. The results showed that adding 1%~3% alfalfa saponing could decreased the pH value, increase the concentration of TVFA and NH3-N compared with the control group, but did not affect the concentration of MCP.关键词
