Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To establish a rapid method for separating total flavones from Scutellaria baicalensis. METHODS: High speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC) was adopted. The extraction solvent composed of dichloromethane-etha-nol-water(7 :3 :1, V/V/V), using upper phase (dichloromethane)as solid phase and lower phase(ethanol-water)as mobile phase at the flow rate of 10 mL·min-1 with revolution speed of 855 r·min-1. The injection volume was 10 mL. The content of total flavones were determined by HPLC. RESULTS: After separation, the content of total flavones reached 98.8% , and 178 mg baicalin was gained from 1 gS. baicalensis. CONCLUSION: The method is simple and easy, and can be used for the separation of the total flavones from S. baicalensis.
