Influences of Filtration on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Al-12%Si Alloys with High Impurity Content

Abstract
Al-12%Si alloy was filtered to remove impurity, which was made from electrothermal-process-made Al-30%Si coarse alloy. The influence of filtration on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy was investigated. The results show that the impurities such as iron and calcium in the alloy could be eliminated through filtration. The morphology of Fe phase in the alloys tends to change to spherical shape from small bulk polyhedral shape. Slender Ca phase compounds were eliminated. The mechanics properties of the alloys were improved obviously and the tensile strength of this alloy has been close to the alloy made from pure Al.关键词
