摘要

Abstract

The network topology discovery is the basis of the network management system; it is an im- portant indicator to measure the quality of the network management system. At first, this paper summarizes the network topology discovery. Secondly, it lists the merits and demerits of the existing algorithm and compares them. Finally, it designs a hierarchical topology discovery algorithm. The network layer topology discovery algorithm based on the SNMP mainly solves the problems of Multiple-router; the link layer topology discovery algorithm based on the Address Forwarding Table uses the virtual root switch to discover the topology. Combining the two algorithms, the network topology can be completely discovered.
