Screening and evaluation of watermelon germplasm for resistance to Meloidogyne incognita

Abstract
【Objective】In order to screen the resistant watermelon germplasm,the screening method and the resistance to Meloidgyne incognita were studied in the experiment.【Method】The relative growth indexes and relevant resistant indexes of 35 watermelon germplasm seedlings which were planted in pots and inoculated with Meloidgyne incognita were measured in the experiment,and the clustering analysis and subordinate function analysis were conducted.【Result】The results showed that different relative growth indexes of different organs,different disease resistant indexes of watermelon germplasm seedlings and their different coefficient variances resulting from the infection of Meloidgyne incognita were different.The result of clustering analysis on the gall index with highest coefficient variance was a little different from that of four resistant indexes,but there was much difference from that of clustering analysis on five relative growth indexes and relative fresh stem weight.By the method of subordinate function,the sequence of resistance from strong to weak successively was determined.The result of cluster analysis by combining multiple indexes and total indexes with single index was more accurate for the resistant class of watermelon germplasm to Meloidgyne incognita.【Conclusion】According to comprehensive screening and evaluation,35 watermelon germplasms in the experiment could be clustered in 3 groups,i.e.high susceptibility,susceptibility and low resistance,no high resistant germplasm.The red-seed watermelon has the strongest resistance and the 'Zhongke 6' has the lowest resistance in 35 watermelon germplasms.关键词
