Effect of Seasons on Semen Quality of Bulls from Different Varieties

Abstract
To study and compare the effects of seasonal variations on semen quality including the average collected volume, the average density, the average activity, the rate of sperm deformity, the rate of semen utilization and the number of frozen semen tubule of bulls of Luxi and imported varieties , 25 bulls of different breeds were selected which were 3 to 4. 5 years old. The results showed that the average density, the average activity, the rate of sperm deformity, the rate of semen utilization and the number of frozen semen tubule of bulls of Luxi were significantly stronger than those of imported varieties in seasonal variations, although the average collected volume of Luxi bulls were lower than those of imported varieties. In conclusion, Luxi bull as the local breed was the least affected by seasonal changes, and its reproductive performance was the most stable.关键词
