摘要

Abstract

Cast steel joint is especially popular with the following advantages: more design flexibility, wide adaptability and excellent mechanical properties. Cast steel joints adopt rounded smooth transitions in local high-stress areas that not only have the appearance of streamline shape, hut also avoid the stress concentration due to intersecting cut and overlapping weld comparing to traditional joints. With the development of long span spatial structures, high-rise buildings and novel structures, being larger and more complex have become the typical characteristics of cast steel joints. However, limited by transportation, lifting, manufacturing and other conditions, super large steel castings arc facing many challenges. In this paper, suitable weight and dimension for general steel casting joints are proposed and the splitting of super large cast steel joints and the adoption of composite steel castings are recommended. Although some of the following technologies are still required for further study.
