Abstract
Objective To quantitatively evaluate left ventricular (LV) long-axis systolic function in essential hypertension (EH) patients with LV hypertrophy by using real-time triplane strain rate imaging (RTTSRI). Methods Sixty-two EH patients (32 without LV hypertrophy, and 30 with LV hypertrophy) were enrolled in this study, and 35 age-matched healthy subjects were selected to serve as controls. Using RTTSRI techniques, the systolic peak strain rates (SRs) at basal and middle segments on different LV walls of the subjects were measured. Results The SRs of all wall in EH group were significantly lower than that in the control group (F=8. 91 — 32. 9259 = 3. 034 — 11. 474;P<0. 05,0. 01) , and that in those with myocardial hypertrophy were much lower than those without (q=2. 839 — 6. 171;P<0. 05,0. 01). Conclusion RTTSRI technique can objectively and quantitatively analyze long-axis systolic function of LV hypertrophy of patients with EH.
