摘要
Abstract
Objective To investigate risk factors of death in the aged with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Methods A retrospective review was done in 89 patients with MODS, who were over 65 years old, in regard to their risk factors of death, fatality rate, and clinical features. Results The main reasons of MODS in the patients were severe infection, severe trauma, shock, severe pancreatitis and after cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the fatality being as high as 62. 92% , for those with concomitant chronic diseases, the fatality might reach up to 73. 61 % , which would increased along with the increase of the number of the depleted organs (x2 = 6. 944,P<0. 01). Conclusion The etiology of MODS is complex, with the characteristics of more basic pathological changes, high fatality, continuity and dynamic changes. It is of important significance to make an early diagnosis, prevention and cure.
