Abstract
Objective To explore the application of SNAPPE-II and its correlation with blood lactate in neonates with critical illness. Methods The clinical parameters of 150 neonates treated at neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in our hospital, from June 2010 to May 2011 , were analyzed retrospectively. The parameters of SNAPPE- II were observed and scored, the association of the level of arterial blood with mortality and SNAPPE- II was investigated. Results The difference of mortality among the non-seriously-ill, seriously-ill and extremely-ill was significant (x2 = 27. 018,P<0. 05). The total score of SNAPPE- H and the level of arterial blood laetate in the dratb group were dramatically higher than that in survival group (Z— — 4. 51B,r= — 7. 630 ,P< 0.05). The SNAPPED score was positively correlated with arterial blood lactate level 0 = 0. 683, P<0. 05). Conclusion SNAPPE-II score is positively correlated with arterial blood lactate concentration, both of these parameters have a value in predicting neonatal death.
