Abstract
Objective To evualate the effect of quercetin on inflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress in serum of cigarette smoke-exposed rats. Methods 20 SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups; normal control group (group A) , quercetin control group (group B) , cigarette smoke - exposed group (group C) , cigarette smoke + quercetin group (group D). Rats in group C and D revieved cigarette smoke exposure for 4 weeks and rats in group D were also treated with quercetin intraperitionally, Rats in group A were injected with saline and rats in group B were only treated with quercetin. 4 weeks later, rats were sacrificed and TNF-α, IL-8, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA) and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) in the serum of rats were examined. Results Cigarette smoke for 4 weeks increased the expression of TNF-a and IL-8, decreased SOD activity and T-AOC level and increased MDA level in the serum of rats, quercetin intervention improved such changes. Conclusion quercetin may decrease cigarette smoke-induced high inflmmatory cytokines expression and oxidative stress level in the serum of rats.关键词
