Study on correlation between erosion resistance and shear strength of loess

摘要

Abstract

Based on the relevant field experiment and geotechnical test in laboratory, the correlation between erosion resistance and shear strength of loess is studied herein. The study result shows that the cohesion of saturated undisturbed soil under the low pressure shows a strong positive correlation with the anti-scour coefficients of loess, when it is larger than 2 kPa and when it is less than 2 kPa, Kc is near 0. Moreover, the cohesions of both the undisturbed soil and the saturated disturbed soil have no obvious correlativity with Kc. Furthermore, there is less change of the internal friction angle of the tested loess and then no direct impact on Kc. It is concluded that the cohesion of saturated undisturbed soil under the low pressure is just the internal factor of the impact on the soil erosion-resistance of loess.
