Influence of Neglecting Electromagnetic Transients on Low-frequency Oscillation Analysis

Abstract
The complex torque coefficients for the three low-frequency oscillation models of one-machine system including SMI+LM1 (original), SM2 + LM2 (only neglecting electromagnetic transient) and SM3+LM3 (neglecting both electromagnetic transient and angular speed) are deduced with and without the considering of resistance effect in this paper. By comparing complex torque coefficients of SM1 + LM1 with SM2+LM2 and SM3+LM3, the effect of neglecting electromagnetic transient on low-frequency oscillation is analyzed. The study results show that, SM1+LM1 and SM3 + LM3 have the same damping for their low frequency oscillation modes without considering of the resistance effect, while SM2+LM2 has smaller damping for this case. On the other hand, the damping for the low frequency oscillation modes for SM1+LM1 decreases with the resistance increasing, but the damping for SM2 + LM2 and SM3 + LM3 increase for this case. Thus, the simplified models can gain the optimized results for the industry applications. In the end, the above observations are validated by eigenvalue method.关键词
