Structure of Knowledge Base and a Firm's Innovative Performance:An Empirical Test in Chinese Electrical & Electronic Industry

Abstract
Knowledge base is the starting point of an enterprise' s innovation. How to improve Chinese firm's innovation competence is an important research focus for academics and enterprises. This paper analyzes the relationship between knowledge-based network structure and firm's innovative performance of Chinese electrical & electronic firms during the 1990' s. In this research, we develop the method to examine the structure of knowledge-based network and find the effect on firm's innovation performance. Using the patent data, count data regression models show that the knowledge base density and decomposability has a significant curvilinear effect on firms' innovation performance, while there is no U-shaped relationship between the knowledge base centrality and innovation performance.关键词
