Abstract

For finding out preferable cutting angles of blades and improving cutting quality of tobacco cutter,the cutting angle of blade, forming process of chipping and effects of cutting angle on cutting quality were analyzed with a theoretical model about cutting angle of blade which was developed on the working principle of rotary guillotine cutter and by referring to the research approaches of metal and wood cutting theories. The validation was conducted by taking the knife drums in SQ34 series and SQ3 series horizontal rotary guillotine cutter as objects. The results showed that: the cutting angle of cutting drum with straight blade was 24° and that of cutting drum with curved blade ranged from 22° to 28°. For stem cutter, cutting drum with horizontal curved blades would offer better cutting quality. The experimental results basically agreed with the analysis results.
