Abstract

Pseudostelariae heterophylla, which is planted at Zherong County of Fujian Province, is an herb that has a good pesticide effect and has enjoyed widespread renown. However, the development of this herb' s relevant industries is severely restricted by its continuous cropping obstacle. It has application value to research the continuous cropping obstacle of this herb, and it is also an important scientific significance to reveal the mechanism of the herb' s continuous cropping obstacle phenomenon. In this study, " Zheseng No. 2" was used as material to study the impact of continuously cropping of P. heterophylla on its yield and quality by field experiment. Then, the Fusarum oxysporum numbers in the rhizospheric soil of P. heterophylla and the control were measured. The results showed that continuously cropping results in significantly decreasing of the yield and root length ( P < 0. 05 ) and extremely significantly decreasing of the fresh root weight and root numbers both (P < 0. 01 ). The results also showed that the contents of ginseng saponins content and polysaccharide extremely significantly decreased (P <0. 01) due to continuously cropping. The numbers of F. oxysporum in the P. heterophyl-la-P. heterophylla and P. heterophylla-Oryza sativa soils were extremely significantly higher than that of the control ( P <0. 01 ) , which were 12. 7 and 13. 0 times of the control. The number of F. oxysporum in P. heterophylla-P. heterophylla soil was higher than that of P. heterophylla-0. sativa soil, but the difference was not significant ( P > 0. 05 ). It indicates that continuously cropping leads to the significantly decrease of yield and quality of P. heterophylla, this serious continuous cropping obstacle might result from the increasing numbers of F. oxysporum in its rhizosphere.
