Influence of modification of ramie fiber using N-methylmorpholine N-oxide solution on the dyeing behaviors

Abstract
Ramie fiber was modified using N-methylmorpholine N-oxide (NMMO) solution. The effects of the NMMO modification on the breaking strength,the structure (analyzed by FT-/R) and dyeing behavior of the ramie fiber were investigated. The results showed that with the increase of the NMMO concentration,the breaking strength of the ramie fiber gradually decreased down to 29 cN. The FT-IR indicated that the hydroxyl amounts of ramie fiber obviously increased. The dye uptake obviously increased but the fixation rate slightly decreased,however,the total fixation grown up. In the case of NMMO concentration was 80%,the dye uptake increased by 42%,the fixation rate decreased by 5% and the total fixation increased by 25%.关键词
