Abstract
Infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) HB/11 strain was isolated in August 2011 from diseased chickens in Henan province and confirmed in embryo inoculation, agar gel diffusion and RT-PCR. Sequence analysis showed that VP2 gene of HB/11 strain shared about 99% homology with some very virulent IBDV strains deposited in GenBank. The HB/11 strain had the heptapeptide motif (SWSASGS) and critical amino acid residues A222, Q253, I256, D279, A284, 1294 and $299 in the variable region of VP2 gene, suggesting that it possessed the molecular characteristics of virulent IBDV. Thirty-day old chickens were inoculated with the isolate. The infected chickens developed clinical signs and pathological changes typical of IBD, and showed 100% morbidity and 70% mortality.关键词
