Abstract

A new molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) material was synthesized by surface imprinting technique using 4-methyldibenzothiophene (4-MDBT) as the template, 4-vinylpyridine (4-VP) as the functional monomer and nano-SiO2 as the supporter. The prepared material was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and nitrogen adsorption. Batch static adsorption experiments were adopted to study the adsorption properties. The results show that MIP has a higher adsorption capacity than non-imprinted polymer (NIP). The overall adsorption data of MIP are best described by the pseudo second-order model, while the data of NIP exhibite good linear relationship with the pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models. Moreover, MIP has better applicability for the Freundlich isotherm equation, indicating multi-molecular layers adsorption for MIP. MIP also shows good selectivity for template 4-MDBT over competitive compounds. In addition, MIP can be regenerated and reused.
