Abstract
Objective To evaluate the long-axis global and regional systolic function of left ventricle ( LV ) by two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography ( 2D-STI ) in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Methods A total of 108 patients receiving chemotherapy were included in this study. Every patient was studied in four stages ( before chemotherapy , after the first cycle of chemotherapy, middle cycle of chemotherapy and after the last cycle of chemotherapy ). Levels of troponin cTnT and cTnl were tested in every stage. Peak strains of segments in apical long-axis, four-chamber, and two-chamber views were evaluated, LV global peak strains were assessed. Results Compared to the data before chemotherapy, GSL had no significant difference after the first cycle and middle cycle of chemotherapy and peak strain of only a few segments decreased significantly. After the last stage of chemotherapy , GSL decreased significantly and peak strains of most segments were lower than those before chemotherapy ( P < 0. 01 ). cTnT and cTnl of every stage of chemotherapy significantly increased and had a trend of gradual rising, and the rate of abnormal electrocardiogram( ECG )also had a trend of gradual rising and had significant difference ( P < 0. 01 ). Conclusion The LV systolic dysfunction in patients receiving chemotherapy can be early detected by 2D-STI, which provides a relatively sensitive and accurate method for clinical evaluation of LV function.关键词
