Abstract

As the drill holes and the probe with the borehole strain instruments are sealed with expansive cement solid, the drill holes can not be used when the probe damaged, this brings great economic losses to our monitoring take, so some idea of making full use of the cave resources of the station to install the shallow borehole strain instruments occures. In this way, we can save the high drilling costs, take a great convenience of instrument maintenance and probe replacement, at the same time, it has positive significance of develop earthquake emergency response and imminent follow-up observations. The research on "Experiments of shallow drilling to install the deformation apparatus and the strain apparatus" in depth of 1. 96 meters at Xuzhou seismic Station by Institute of Crustal Dynamics, China Earthquake Administration and Henan Earthquake Administration has already achieved good results that we have reached the intended purpose by comparing the same period of observational data that belongs to the volume strain, the vibrating wire instrument and the telescopic instrument those who installed in the cave of Xuzhou seismic station. While the instruments are installed in the cave, if we take the battery-power and charge it avoid the thunderstorm period, we can also greatly reduce or avoid the impact of lightning disaster.
