摘要
Abstract
Iron is the most abundant trace element in human body. It plays an important role in maintaining the normal physiological functions in human body. Recent studies have found that inflammation may increase hepcidin levels, which in turn leads to the reduction of iron absorption. Obesity is often associated with chronic inflammation and obese patients are usually in a deficiency state of iron. Traditional treatments of obesity normally include diet restriction, exercise and drugs. Since bariatric surgery has been used for treating morbid obesity, patients can obtain significant weight loss after the surgery. Due to the modification in anatomical structure, the levels of iron are normally changed. Iron deficiency anemia is common in patients with gastric bypass surgery.关键词
