Abstract
Arabidopsis LIKE HETEROCHROMATIN PROTEIN 1 (LHP1) and TERMINAL FLOWER 2 (TFL2) were identified as homolog of metazoan HETEROCHROMATIN PROTEIN 1 (HP1). In animals, HP1 protein was involved in heterochromatin formation and gene silencing. Different from HP1, the LHP1 was usually located in euchromatin and inhibited the expression of multiple genes in euchromatin. Arabidopsis LHP1/TFL2 mutants exhibited multiple phenotypes, such as early flowering, photoperiod sensitivity reduction, apical inflorescence, and dwarf plants. The past researches conducted on LHP1, especially in monocotyledonous plant rice, was restricted to the different protein expressions, but discussed little or none about the gene sequence, gene expression, and gene regulation level for in-depth researches. Due to the importance of LHP1 functions, the LHP1 homologous genes in different species, especially monocot rine, was carefully studied and analyzed in this study. Furthermore, basing on the N-terminal sequence difference of LHP1 homologous gene in different species caused by different reasons, LHP1 's evolutionary characteristics were also analyzed. The expression of LHP1 in different species during duration, the funtional expression of LHP1 mutant in rice, and the loci of LHP1 in flowering regulating network should be studied in the future.关键词
