摘要

Abstract

Accelerating aging of aramid composites was programmed in a weathering chamber. The structure and properties were investigated by Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometry ( ATR - FT-IR) ,Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) and ballistic tests. The results revealed that the physical aging was the main aging mechanism in this system . The behavior of moisture absorption and desorption were different between the beginning stage and last 8 weeks. The cooperative changes in moisture and FUR properties were observed. The glass transition temperature (Tg) was affected by aging. It is suggested the phase separation happened during the exposure. An empirical formula was obtained according to the Arrhenius model. This formula can be used to predict the degree of phase separation. Weathering aging had slightly effect on the ballistic performance of the aramid composites.
