The frequency domain solution for the motion simulation of the prismatic planing craft in regular head waves

Abstract
The majority weight of a planing craft is supported mainly by the hydrodynamic lift when its moving at a high speed, so the conventional motion prediction of the displacement ships is not applicable. A new theoretical method considering the influence of hydrodynamic lift is presented, which is used to compute the attitude of a prismatic planning craft in calm water and the responses in waves. Based on a semi-empirical formula, effect of the hydrodynamic lift on hydrodynamic coefficients is discussed, and a model for frequency domain solution is established for the motion simulation of the prismatic planing craft in regular head waves. The comparison between the numerical results and experimental data provides evidence that support the study.关键词
