Abstract

Batch adsorption experiments were carried out for the removal of 2, 4-dichlorophenol (DCP) from aqueous solutions using a novel polyamidoamine-cyclodextrin copolymer (PAMAM-CD). The main factors which might affect the adsorption capacity were investigated by single factor tests, including contact time, pH, adsorbent dosage( W), solution volume ( V), DCP initial concentration (Co) and adsorption temperature (T). The adsorption mechanism of PAMAM-CD toward DCP was studied. The results of the orthogonal test indicated that the effect of adsorption conditions on the adsorption capacity was in the following order: CO 〉 W 〉 V 〉 T. And the most suitable adsorption conditions were determined as follows: Co = 150 mg/L, W =25 mg, V = 75 mL, T = 15℃. The adsorption capacity of DCP was even up to 105.6 mg/g under these conditions. The adsorp- tion mechanism was probably simultaneously dominated by complex, hvdrogen bonding, etc.
