摘要

Abstract

Objective:To observe the morphological changes of the ependyma cells in diabetes mellitus rats at different time, and to explore the role of median eminence (ME) in diabetes mellitus. Methods:Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into five groups: a control group; and 2-week, 4-week, 8-week and 11-week groups with administration of streptozocin. The above groups were observed with SEM and TEM Results: Control group: There were apparent lines between the secretory granules in ME and they were smooth and glossy. The secretory granules of the infundibular stem were distributed dispers-edly. Model group: In the 2-week group, the secretory granules were of uniform size and regular distribution. A plenty of phagocytes-like cells could be seen at the juncition. In the 4-week group, there were fewer secretory granules than those in the control group,and the small secretory granules gathered at the infundibular stem. In the 8-week group,there were a plenty of secretory granules near the juncition of the side wall of third ventricle. In the 11-week group, the number of secretory granules were decreased, and they gathered near the midpoint of ME and were distributed on band. The results of TEM observation showed that the secretory granules were thin and smaller than control. Microvilli on ependymal cells were thin and the mito-chondrions of the ependymal cell swellened in the model group. Conclusion: There is a region difference and a decrease in the secretory granules of the ependymal cells in ME during different time of diabetes mellitus.
