Abstract
Objective:To investigate the morphological characteristics of the insula and its adjacent structures, therefore, to provide references for surgery in this region. Methods:The insula and its adjacent structures of total 10 adult cadaveric heads (20 hemispheres) were dissected and observed. Results: The insula was approximately triangular structure with 4-7 insular gyri on its surface. And, the insula was separated from the frontal, parietal and temporal lobe by anterior, superior and inferior limiting sulci around the insula, closely neighbored to the lateral fissure, opercula insulae, middle cerebral arter-y, lateral ventricle, basal ganglia and internal capsule. Conclusion:An accurate knowledge of insula and its adjacent structures can guide incision of insular tumors, hematoma clearing in basal ganglia area, and treatment of intracranial aneurysm with minimized postsurgical complications.关键词
