Skinfold thickness of Xiang-speaking adults of Han nationality
摘要
Abstract
Objective:To explore the skinfold thickness of Xiang-speaking adults. Methods: Total 730 Han adults (157 urban males and 163 urban females, 196 rural males and 214 rural females) who speak Xiang dialect, were randomly selected, and submitted to analyze their skinfold thickness including facial, triceps, biceps, subscapular, suprailiac and calf. The characters of skinfold thickness were analyzed regarding to aging. Results: (1) The statistical differences were detectable in all six skinfold thickness in genders both in urban and rural. The skinfold thickness of males was significantly thinner than that of females. (2) The skinfold thickness of urban people was statistically greater than those in rural people. (3) All six skinfold thickness peaked in 40-year-old group of urban and rural males, and rural females, while these thickness peaked in different age groups in urban females. The correlation analysis showed that the facial skinfold thickness and suprailiac skinfold thickness were increased gradually with aging in Xiang-speaking adults, while the calf skinfold thickness was thinning gradually with aging in both rural males and females. Conclusion: The skinfold thickness of Xiang-speaking adult has same characteristics with ethnic groups of north Asia, but these skinfold thickness in Xiang-speaking females is relatively thinner.关键词
