Impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy with FOLFOX or CF on immune function in patients with colorectal carcinoma

Abstract
Objective To explore the impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy with FOLFOX or CF on immune function in patients with colorectal carcinoma. Methods Eighty - three patients with colorectal carcinoma were selected and divided into observation group ( n = 43) and control group (n =40). The observation group received neoadjuvant chemotherapy with FOLFOX. The control group received neoadjuvant chemotherapy with CF for one cycle. If Karnofsky score was over 80 in one week after chemotherapy,the control group would receive radical surgery. The levels of peripheral T - lymphocyte subsets and IgG were tested before neoadjuvant chemotherapy 7 and 14 days after operation. The immune function of 50 normal healthy subjects was tested as normal control group. Results The levels of peripheral T - lymphocyte subsets and IgG before neoadjuvant chemotherapy were not significantly different between the study group and the control group. The levels of peripheral T - lymphocyte subsets and IgG 7 and 14 days after surgery decreased in both groups without significant differences. Conclusion The impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy with FOLFOX or CF on immune function in patients with colorectal carcinoma is basically the same. We can choose either regimen as neoadjuvant chemotherapy.关键词
