Experimental study on mechanical behavior of reinforced concrete beams at different loading rates

Abstract
Dynamic experiment of reinforced concrete(RC) beams at different loading rates was carried out with the MTS electro-hydraulic servo system to study the effect of loading rate on the mechanical behaviors of RC beams.The monotonic displacement control loading with loading rates 0.1 mm/s,0.5 mm/s,1 mm/s,5 mm/s and 10 mm/s was imposed.The effect of loading rates on the failure pattern and load-displacement curve of RC beams was investigated.The effects of loading rate on the cracking,ultimate and failure strengths and displacements,ductility and energy dissipation capacity of RC beams was studied.The conclusions can be drawn that,with the increase of loading rate,the cracks distribute more uniformly while their depths are decreased.The cracking,ultimate,failure strengths and displacements of RC beams increase with the increase of loading rate.The ductility and energy dissipation capacity of RC beams improve obviously with the increase of loading rate.关键词
