Abstract
Objective To understand HIV epidemic trend in Kaiyuan, Honghe prefecture of Yunnan. Method The surveillance data (1995 -2011) were analyzed to understand the the epidemiological characteristics of HIV infection. Results Since the fist HIV case was found in 1995 in Kaiyuan, the cumulative number of reported HIV/AIDS cases had reached 3465 by 2011. Most of cases were male (74.3%) , aged between 20 and 49 (90.3%) , han people (62.7%) , had no work or worked as fanners (68%) , and were educated at the level of primary school. The major HIV transmission route was injection drug use by sharing needles from 1995 to 2003. The sexual transmission constituent ratio rose from 10.4% in 2005 to 64.9% in 2011. The heterosexual transmission has become the main route for HIV transmission. Conclusions HIV/AIDS epidemic in Kaiyuan has shifted from injection drug use to heterosexual transmission. Kaiyuan is now an area with high incidence of HIV infection.关键词
