Abstract

The nutrient components of Bashania fargesii leaves and shoots picked from different times and age classes were tested, and the nutritive value of Bashania fargesii leaves and shoots was compared. The results showed that the contents of ash and crude fiber in Bashania fargesii shoots and leaves increased with increasing time and age class. In contrast, the contents of crude protein and crude fat in Bashania fargesii shoots and leaves decreased with increasing time and age class. The contents of trace elements in Bashania fargesii leaves increased with age class except Ca. Bashania fargesii shoots and leaves had 17 common amino acids and 8 essential amino acids. Total amino acids of bamboo shoots and leaves decreased with time, but the rate of EAA/TAA increased with time. After comparing the nutritional components in bamboo shoots and bamboo leaves of Bashania fargesii, we found that bamboo shoots had more nutritive value and were more easily for giant pandas' absorption and utilization of daily necessities nutrition.
