摘要

Abstract

Thickness swelling (TS) due to water absorption is an important quality index of wood-based panel products. According to Chinese National Standard GB/T 17657-1999, TS is tested by immersing samples in (20±2)℃ water after being equilibrated at (20±2) ℃ and (65±5)% RH. The author conducted an experiment to investigate the effects of soaking time, water temperature, and the temperature and humidity of conditioning treatments on TS performance of particleboard (PB) and medium density fiberboard (MDF) samples. It was found that TS values of both PB and MDF samples increased with increasing water temperature, soaking time, and conditioning temperature and humidity.
