Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of electro-acupuncture(EA) treatment during COH on oocyte quality and the pregnant outcome of the patients undergoing in-vitro- fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET). Methods Totally 224 patients undergoing IVF-ET, in which, there was 141 cases with PCOS, 83 cases with no-PCOS. They were divided into EA group and control group randomly. They all were given ethinylestradiol and cyproterone acetate tablets and long program ovarian hyperstimulation with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist. At the same time, the EA group received EA treatment, and the pregnancy outcome of the two groups was compared. Results The pregnancy rate in EA group of POCS patients was increased by 10. 78% than that in control group, and the fertilization rate, egg spliting rate, high grade oocyte rate were increased significantly in EA group( all P < 0.05). But there were no obvious changes in two groups of no-POCS about those indexes. The levels of SCF in serum, liquor folliculi of pregnancy group were higher than those of non-pregnancy group obviously (all P <0.05). Conclusions Electro-acupuncture used in COH can increase the pregnancy rate in P-COS patients undergoing IVF-ET. The PCOS patients were more sensitive to electro-acupuncture stimulus than the no-PCOS patients.
