摘要

Abstract

Spermatogenic cell apoptosis is a normal physiological mechanism for removing excess and defective spermatogenic cells. Excessive apoptosis could lead to oligoasthenozoospermia in the pathological state. FAS/FASL system is a main pathway mediating apoptosis of spermatogenic cells in mammalian. FAS ligand specifically combines with FAS on cell membrane, then activates caspase enzyme cascade reaction through Fas associated death domain and induces apoptosis. FAS/FASL system plays a key role in regulating apoptosis of spermatogenic cells. The combination of FAS and FAS ligand can trigger apoptosis, which is a normal physiological phenomenon during human body growth, however, over expression of this signaling pathway may adversely affect sperm quantity and quality. This paper reviewed the effect of FAS / FASL system on the apoptosis of spermatogenic cells, and discussed the male infertility caused by idiopathic oligoasthenozoospermia.
